I think constant contact (such as using an instant messenger) is the best way to avoid problems.

Also make sure you’re not taking advantage of the freelancer. If most people are bidding $100 and someone bids $10, you know they’re not going to be able to complete it.

Don’t experiment with a project either. I’ve had to fix a few people’s blunders because they thought they could do it.

Me too. I avoid template fixes now after a couple disasters and a negative feedback as a result
