The latest function of a camera phone
The great and fast advance of technology is creating more and more original products and features in order to ease people’s lives greatly. One of the latest inventions that UK specialists have come up with is that of using a simple camera phone as a three dimensional mouse. The researches of these specialists have leaded them to the conclusion that it is not very difficult to control screens by using camera phones.
For this reason, they have created special software to be installed in the memory of the camera phone that is able to make it function as a 3D mouse. The method is not very complicated as they present it and the benefices of it are numerous.
When presenting their invention for the first time, the UK scientists have used a regular camera phone in which they had previously installed the special software and held it in front of the monitor. As they moved the phone, the images on the monitor were also moving, as if they were using a special 3D mouse. The inventors think that their discovery will be very useful for people to control the images on their screen in 3D. For this reason they expect a great profitability from their software.
As most of the discoveries of this kind, the mobile phone acting as a 3D mouse will most likely become popular in short time. For this reason, the prototype will be presented at the International Conference on Computer Vision and Theory in Portugal in February 2008.
