The importance of computer games
The industry of computer games is continuously developing its techniques and strategies in order to make more and more appealing games. However, each company that produces video games is specialized in a certain type of games that address to a certain age group. For this reason, the variety of the existing games and of the games to be created is very notable and we should take it into consideration whenever we speak of this domain.
Specialists have reached to the conclusion that computer games are really useful and important as they can actually develop the players’ imagination and use their intelligence and speed of reaction. This usefulness however, must be understood with limits as there is also a very obvious effect that computer games create that of determining addiction from their users and players.
All these elements must be considered when we decide about what are the exact benefices and drawbacks of
computer games. The overall conclusion that psychologists have reached to is that computer games are indeed able to incite the players’ intelligence but that they must be used with measure. That is why parents are advised to pay great attention to their children’s activities and also to the games they play to realize if these affect their behavior in some way.
All in all, the usefulness of video and computer games has been tested and it really is remarkable but the most important thing to take into consideration is not to let it create addiction among players.

I wish every game developer shared your opinion of “not to let it create addiction among players”. I think many do… look at all the people waiting for Grand Theft Auto4.
I do believe that games help develop imagination. The current creators probably played games such as Zelda and Final Fantasy growing up.

I think that focusing the development of video games around the end result (such as increasing reaction time) is pointless. You need a good subject and great execution to make the game useful. Buy that’s just me.
