I agree with amerkan, but i also want to add that the simplicity is key, and it is not good to have a whole bunch of junk in your porfolio!
If you really want to build a good portfolio, do some free work. I posted a few things on craigslist.org to get my design portfolio going. Nothing like positive customer reviews.
Sometimes i find its hard to tell all of your strong areas, but the advice about using brief and powerful words is very helpful! keep it up SVEN!
